I am an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My research focuses on the use and consequences of emergent digital technologies in shaping the future of work and organizations. In my previous project, I explored flexible organizational contexts such as the gig economy, specifically investigating the paradoxical roles of digital labor platforms in organizing and mediating work practices within these contexts. In more recent projects, I have been delving into the transformation of knowledge work through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI). I articulated the concept of 'human-AI symbiosis' to explain how humans and AI systems can work synergistically together and complement each other in decision making in organizational contexts. My research has also advanced the concept of algorithmic management, detailing how algorithms may automate or augment managerial functions.
