About me

I am a PhD candidate at the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University. I received a BSc in Public Administration from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, and a Master of Science in Information Systems from the London School of Economics. My master thesis conducted a structurational analysis of how Course Management Systems are used in practice.

Largely influenced by the sociotechnical tradition, my research focuses on organizational and social changes induced by the use of information and communication technologies. I am currently studying the interplay between different social technologies and informal knowledge practices within and across organizations. Over the past few years, I studied the ways in which informal networks serve as conduits of knowledge, facilitating technological innovations. Supported under auspices of National Science Foundation, his work with Dr. Steve Sawyer investigated the social organization of technological innovation in the context of tabletop computing. Findings from this case study highlight the importance of informal networks among several tabletop researchers.
